While Yu-Gi-Oh GX is indeed an anime, that does not mean that this is Full Metal Alchemist/Bleach/One Piece/Dragon Ball Z or any other fantasy anime. So no superhuman abilities, and you can not be part werewolf, or vampire, or anything. If you'd like, you can make your character look like one, act like one, and maybe even think they are one. But they will be considered weird, by just about ...everybody.
Yu-Gi-Oh is mostly based off of Real Life, Students that attend school, play a card game that uses holograms to create picutes of the image on the cards through advanced technology. Trust me there's a lot of Science in here as well as Magic. Mostly science.
So please keep all this information in mind when you are creating your character or setting up your own personal plot lines.
-------------------------------------------------
Items your character can and can not use:
Duel Phones - Every student is given one at the start of the year, and students are encouraged to personalise it with whatever they like: stickers, paint, apps, anything. It has all the capabilities of a regular smartphone, Phone Calls, apps, and the internet, but it is also connected to a (currently unnamed)social networking site only accessible by students still attending Duel Academy. If you break one and need a replacement, you must fill out a large number of forms, in triplicate, (in-character), so try not to break it.
Seeing Spirits - The ability to see duel spirits is not normal. If you tell anyone, they will think that you are crazy. Duel Spirits are real, but nobody knows about them, they think they are just some fairytale story. If a spirit chooses to make themselves visible, and someone sees it, they will try to think logically, and ignore it. If it looks humanoid, people will assume its some guy in a costume. If it's obviously a monster, they will just think they are seeing things, especially if it looks like a card they have.
Cars - At the Academy, they are not allowed. Why, you may ask? Well, look at it this way: You are on an Island, in a school, In the middle of nowhere! Most characters aren't old enough to have one, and there's no need for cars besides the delivery vehicles, and I doubt they would make exceptions for some students, who shouldn't be driving anyway. If your character has one, they might be able to use them outside of the academy, maybe in Egypt, or in town, or something. (Aslo, quick note: The delivery vehicles in school are purpose-built to deliver large ammounts of items, nothing more. They take heavy loads, run off electricity, they can't go over 5 miles per hour, and there are so many security meansures in place to prevent students taking them for joyrides that there's really no point in trying. Most students know this, and even the Rulebreakers know it would only end up as a waste of time.)
Guns - Absolutely not allowed at all. Ever. This is a PG-13 Forum, and this will not end up as one of those stupid games where people end up being all crazy and letting out their pent-up aggression by shooting people. Anything involving guns will not be tolerated and you will be warned heavily. Also, Please don't go around saying that you have a Katana or knife or whatever else under the "Weapons" catagory here. Just use a little common sense, you couldn't have those in a regular school, you also can't go walking around freely with them here. If you really need weapons for defending yourself and somehow, dueling won't save you, improvise.
Alcohol - There is a Night Club, and a bar hidden somewhere on this island, people under 21 will not be allowed in. Don't even try. Fake I.D. won't help you, the people who go there are mostly teachers, who all know each other well enough to spot an impostor.
Murder/Killing - Another common sense thing, so don't even try for some serial killer thing, It's not going to be allowed, ever, so just don't go there.
-------------------------------------------------
Other notes:
Yu-Gi-Oh GX - yes we all know that this is what the show is called; however, the characters you play on here do not know that fact. You cannot refer to "the Show" or "Gx" when your talking to other members because for you this is just real life, your not on a show or anything, your just at a Duel Academy, learning how to become a better duelist, that's all your world revolves around here in the actual Role Play. Well, there's that, and protecting duel academy from whatever ungodly horror/diabolical mastermind is threataning the world this week.
Meeting People - You do not know everyone on the island. Just because you can see the name next to the post doesn't mean your character can, Hopefully you don't walk around wearing a sign on your head saying your name on it. But just for logic's sake we're going to say that you don't. You have to go up to someone and talk to them and learn their names and things about them.
